Lauren & Tim

When I first met with Lauren and Tim to discuss their wedding plans, and he said they wanted to do their post-wedding formal shots at a gun range, I said I have to do this wedding!  Unfortunately the range ended up being unavailable for the day of the wedding, but being out in the country, Tim was able to get us some shooting space surrounded by corn fields.  I doubt I will ever shoot another wedding where the only thing waiting for the bouquet to be tossed was a load of bird shot.

We have received the pics you sent – they are great! Tim and I were really excited to go through all of them to see your interpretation and perspective of the day! Your creativity really shows in the pictures as you captured so many different angles, lights, moments, and emotions. There are so many great pics of Tim and I, but the one where you caught my parents’ faces as I was saying my speech makes me cry every time I look at it. Thanks for all of your work throughout this entire process. You were a great help preparing for the day, and planning where to take the pictures. Your enthusiasm and willingness to be involved with the planning helped to make this one of the stress-free parts of the wedding planning process. We have already been getting amazing comments on the pics you sent as “sneak peaks”. We cannot wait to refer you to other brides and grooms!

This was a beautiful sunny day, and while it did make us all very hot, it also made for some great down-on-the-farm shots.  Hats off to Tim for transforming the dirt patch I originally saw in April into a great tent venue, on what had become a field of lush, green grass (I wish the grass in my yard would grow as well) by the day of the wedding.

Elly & Steve

I was thinking about doing a cheesey airplane joke here, but I'll pass.

Elly and Steve are both pilots for a shipping/freight airline.  The theme of the wedding was then naturally all about planes.  It took place on Hamilton mountain at the Warplane Heritage Museum, which is right across the street from where they work (if I understood correctly).  This definitely made for some unique shots, and it was very cool to be able to get into the hanger where a few planes were being painted.  Lots of nice detail in those shots

We got alot of great comments about the wedding pictures, and what we got from you blew the doors off what we had taken by family and friends. There were many unique shots around the airplanes and in the hanger that had cool effects. Some of the lighting was very challenging but you sure made it work.

If we have any friends or family that are getting married, we’ll make sure to send them to you. Thanks again very much.

Another great highlight was being able to go out on the tarmac and stick Elly right up on one of the engine cowlings.  I'm surprised this was allowed, but I guess when you work there, and everyone is "on board" (had to), its not such a big deal.

This was another short day.... only 3 hrs... but still lots of great shots were crammed into that short time.  Here are some of my favs...

Christina & Ivan

Christina and Ivan are friends of ours (my wife and I, actually Christina and her work together).  They came to our wedding in Mexico last year, so I was happy to be a part of theirs.

“Thanks, Aaron, for capturing our wedding with such creativity and authenticity! We’re looking for someone like you because first and foremost, you are an awesome artist! You shared our vision right away and made it a reality! Your blog photos are amazing and the USB photos are fabulous! Thanks so much for everything, you truly made us feel comfortable on such a big day!”

This was a quick day; only 4 hrs of shooting, and lots of time spent sitting in traffic downtown.  For such a short day though, we seemed to hit lots of locations, which made for some great shots.  It also helps when working with friends, as then I can be more myself, and not worry so much about having to make a good impression... cause they already know Im great :P  It was also fun to hang out with Ivan for the day, as we are pretty similar people it seems, sharing lots of outlooks on things.   I think I need one of those I ♥ Ivan shirts, too.

I did alot more color pictures for this wedding.  I feel I had somewhat of a break-through regarding color processing, but it seems all my favorites below are still mostly black and whites.  No problem though... Im still happy with all these shots.

Janey Brown

My friend Janey is an up and coming singer/songwriter.  Actually maybe you've seen her singing and dancing for the intro to Friday Night Football on TSN...?  Anyway she wanted a new promo/head shot so I said we could definitely do something!

This was definitely her favorite capture of the evening.  We took many shots and narrowed it down to 3.  Ive editted 2 so far, and this one is my favorite so far.

I think it was pretty lucky capture.  Using the 85 1.2 lens wide open, the DOF was extremely shallow, and with it being such a slow lens to focus, I knew capturing a good hair-whip in focus would be next to impossible.  So I asked her to pose in her 'ending position', focused there, then had her do the hair-whip.... and hopefully she ended up coming to rest where we had set the focus at!  Forunately this one worked.
